Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1213: "Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: 'Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.'"
Infant/Child baptism: St. Wenceslaus requires a Baptismal Preparation class for parents welcoming their first child. The class, which runs approximately 1 hour, is scheduled at the convenience of the parents and the facilitator, usually a Deacon. In addition, a copy of birth certificate is required
Once the class is taken, or if a class is unnecessary, a Baptism may be scheduled. Baptisms take place during a weekend Mass.
Adult baptism: St. Wenceslaus normally requires an adult seeking Baptism to attend the Inquiry Class.
