The Franciscan Jubilee Year Pilgrimage: 800 Years of the Poverello

This Pilgrimage takes place during a truly extraordinary moment in the life of the Church. Pope Leo XIV has declared a year of Jubilee in 2026 to commemorate the 800 years since St. Francis of Assisi’s passing in 1226. Throughout Christian history, jubilee years have been understood as times of special grace, renewal, conversion, and an invitation to step out of ordinary life and enter more deeply into the heart of the Gospel.

Pilgrimage to Rome during a Jubilee Year is traditionally accompanied by special graces, including the opportunity to receive plenary indulgences through prayer, sacramental participation, and visiting the Church’s major basilicas.
